Portfolio Example – Ghost Written Bio

Editor’s note: The bio below was ghost written by Hank Jacobs for the Yogi Road website, currently under construction. Emily Broms is a Los Angeles based yoga teacher and entrepreneur.

Nice to meet you!

So I was living in San Francisco, a graduate of SFSU with a degree in anthropology, and I had no idea what I was going to do. I was working in restaurants, hanging out with my friends, and riding my bike everywhere. But something was missing. Then one day, I walked past a yoga studio around the corner from my house and something told me to go in. That was the beginning of a lifelong love affair with the art, practice, and study of yoga.

It was in San Francisco that I began my training, a 200-hour Ashtanga based program through It’s Yoga. It deepened my knowledge and understanding of a powerful form of Yoga, and provided the jumping off point on my own personal Yogi Road.

After returning to my hometown of Thousand Oaks, California, I was fortunate to be hired by the Ventura Recovery Center, where I still work. The resilience of the clients in recovery, and the strength of those who make their careers helping them is the source of great inspiration in my life and work. Experiencing the difference that Yoga could make in the lives of my rehab students led me to start the Yogi Road to Recovery.

Needing to deepen my yogic education, I took a bridge program, followed by a 300 hour training at Yoga Works under the mentorship of Jennifer Elliott. I continue to deepen my education through workshops, retreats, and an in-depth study of issues around recovery and the 12 Steps.

I now teach between 10 and 20 yoga classes a week in the Los Angeles area, including public, private, and rehab classes. Add in courses in business, marketing, and bookkeeping, and I am one busy lady.

Oh, yeah!  I also sew in my spare (;-}) time: beautiful custom made cloth dinner napkin sets, eye pillows, and other yoga accessories. Click on The Sewing Yogi for a little taste.

If you’d like to work with me, or bring the Yogi Road to Recovery system into your rehab, contact me here. I look forward to hearing from you!
